Pastor Stan Christopherson and his wife Aimee arrived in Bonners Ferry, with their two girls, in May of 2004. Pastor Stan has a BS in Chemistry from the University of Texas at Arlington, and worked as a chemist for eight years before receiving his call to ministry. In answering this call, he and his family moved to Kansas City where he received his Masters of Divinity, with a specialization in Evangelism, from Nazarene Theological Seminary. This diverse background provides him with the ability to integrate “real-world” issues with what it means to live a life “sold out” to Jesus Christ. Pastor Stan is a Captain in the local volunteer fire department and also enjoys golfing, skiing and fishing, and has even taken up hunting recently. He also loves tech gadgets.
Aimee’s background includes an Education and Special Education degree from Central Washington University, and enjoys the periodic opportunities to substitute in the public school system. She has a particular passion for working with special needs kids, and works as a therapist. In her “spare” time, Aimee loves going to garage sales and can often be found at one of the local thrift shops. If there’s a bargain to be found, she has a knack for finding it.
If you were to try and sum up Pastor Stan's approach to ministry it would be "missional." Missional is the term used for an approach to ministry that focuses on what God is doing, and then finding ways of partnering with what God is already doing. It also means that the Church is not a building but rather the gathered Body of Christ, and that the mission of the Church is to be God's messengers and agents in the world around us. In other words, the Church is to be active in lives and community in such a way that God's kingdom becomes a felt Presence and reality.
In 2008, Pastor Stan began work on his Doctorate in Ministry degree at Nazarene Theological Seminary, and is currently in the final stage of that program.
